I grew up in
Hobart (Tasmania), taking advantage of all of what the “Natural
State” has to offer. On finishing High School I deferred my
Agricultural Science Degree at Tas Uni to accept a place in the
bachelor of Photography Programme at Griffith University’s,
Queensland College of Art. During the three years of the Bachelor
of Photography I developed a well-rounded education in all areas
of Photography. My passions were strengthened in the area of Photojournalism
and Social Documentary.
It was my work with The Australian Photojournalist Magazine, which
wetted my appetite for the world of publication and web design.
My interest in the combining of photography and design and my love
of the city of Sydney has led me to the University of Technology,
Sydney’s Graduate Diploma in Design.
I am a firm believer in the power of images as a communication tool.
The picture can tell 1000 words, or even more! I have a passion
for visual communication and see it as a very powerful tool. I see
myself as a Storyteller with a social conscience. I believe there
is just as much merit in telling the everyday, ordinary story than
the big world new stories. If I can make people think and take notice
of someone or something ordinary, in their own community then I
am satisfied as a storyteller. With more thought and understanding,
perhaps the world can be a more “well adjusted” place?
